Season by Season
October – November
Season opensThe monsoon retreats, the Sharavathi settles, and the banks are at their greenest of the whole year. Water lilies and lotus return to the quiet channels, and the first migratory birds arrive. Mornings are misty and cool — the boatman-in-the-mist photos in our gallery are from these weeks.
December – January
Peak seasonThe most popular months: clear skies, calm water, pleasant 20–30°C days. Gull flocks gather on the estuary in the hundreds, and sunrise slots book out first — reserve a day or two ahead, especially between Christmas and Sankranti. Pre-wedding shoot bookings also peak now for the soft winter light.
February – March
Warm & goldenDays warm up but mornings and evenings stay beautiful on the water. This is the best window for sunset cruises — the golden stretch lives up to its name, and the crowds of the holiday season have thinned.
April – May
Summer morningsCoastal Karnataka gets hot and humid by midday, so book the earliest slot (around 6 AM) or the last one before sunset. The upside: the water is at its calmest and the mangrove tunnel offers cool shade even at noon.
June – September
Monsoon — call firstThe southwest monsoon transforms the Sharavathi: dramatic skies and a swollen, powerful river. Rides run only when conditions are safe and may pause for days during heavy spells — always WhatsApp us before planning a monsoon visit. If the weather cancels your slot, we reschedule free.

Best time of day, any month
Sunrise (≈6:00–8:00 AM) for mist, birds and glassy water; the last slot before sunset for golden light on the open stretch. Midday rides are fine in winter but best avoided in April–May.
